Born and raised in Talladega, Alabama, Rev. Robert Jones has dedicated his life to faith, service, and the spiritual growth of others. He is the proud father of six children and honors the memory of one who is deceased.
Rev. Jones finds joy in uplifting others, spending time visiting and encouraging people, and teaching children, nurturing their spiritual development. His compassionate nature and ability to bring hope and joy to others are hallmarks of his ministry.
One of the most defining moments of his spiritual journey was his first sermon at the age of twenty-five, based on Colossians 3, titled:
“Seeking Those Things from Above: Are You Alive in Christ?”
This passage remains foundational in his faith, as it emphasizes the importance of focusing on eternal things and living a life transformed by Christ.
Ministry Background
Rev. Jones has served in ministry for over 54 years, hearing God’s call at the young age of 12. Though he didn’t fully understand it at the time, he felt drawn to the wisdom of older church members and the presence of the elderly, finding great fulfillment in their fellowship.
He was ordained in 1989 at Pilgrim Baptist Church, marking the formal beginning of his pastoral journey. Over the years, he has served in various leadership roles, beginning under Rev. Hines at 11th Hour Saints Church, later pastoring at Washington Park Christian Church, and for the past 24 years has faithfully served as the Associate Pastor at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church.
